New Trees Initiative 2026

Tree Planting Initiative with TreesLouisville

We have been generously given an opportunity with TreesLouisville and a community partner to plant 52 new trees on our school grounds. (Proposed Plan, subject to change) All 52 trees will be planted by volunteers with help from TreesLouisville on March 21st including mulch, staking, watering device, and trunk guard. Chenoweth families are invited to participate in this exciting volunteer event!

Chenoweth Tree Planting Event with TreesLouisville

📆 Saturday, March 21, 2026

⏰ 10am-12:30pm

📍Chenoweth Elementary

Kids are welcome to assist in the planting efforts with adult supervision. There will be a select number of tree seedlings to giveaway to volunteers at the conclusion of the event thanks to the Jefferson County Soil and Water Conservation District.

We need YOUR support to care for the trees!!

TreesLouisville helps maintain the trees periodically for 10 years! Over 100+ JCPS schools have already benefited from this amazing program. However, May-October of this first year is a crucial time for watering to help the trees survive and that is where we need our school/PTA community to help!

Matt Kinney (parent of 2nd and 5th graders) has generously volunteered to help organize and lead volunteers for this initiative. We will need 5+ adults at the same time each Saturday (time TBD, Matt will reach out the Friday before) for approximately 1-1.5 hours May-October. It will involve bucket watering, hose watering, and filling a water tank in an SUV/truck to reach the trees farther away. If we get enough rain we won’t have to water and Matt will notify those who signed up.

Though it may seem early to commit to specific dates, your interest and commitment NOW to sign-up for as many weekends as you can will help us with planning ahead. Sign up below or if you are eager to help but can’t sign up right now, PLEASE email ChenowethPTA@gmail.com to share your commitment.

If you have any questions please email ChenowethPTA@gmail.com or reach out to Matt Kinney at mdkinn01@gmail.com.
